A few people have expressed interest in trying the MarsEdit vox support out "regardless of growing pains." I'm willing to open up access to a beta release of MarsEdit to people who follow these steps:
- Get a Vox account.
- Add MarsEdit On Vox (this blog) to your neighborhood.
- Send me a private message asking to be included (include your email).
By asking to be included you agree that you understand this is a cutting-edge product with rough edges. Currently, editing of existing posts, deleting posts, and setting post categories (tags) are not suported.
Additionally, you agree not to discuss details of the pre-release outside of the "neighbors only" comments within this blog.
Exception: You may mention in your VOX posts that you have posted using a pre-release of MarsEdit. If you do so, please refer back to this posting so that others interested in testing have a chance to join in the fun.
Thanks! Daniel Jalkut
Well folks, the good news is that MarsEdit is "more or less" ready to go with Vox. Posting new entries works, though I'm sure we'll uncover some bugs along the way. The bad news is that editing and deleting do not work. I confirmed with Vox that this is a shortcoming in the Atom implementation on Vox right now. So the problem is I'm not sure I want to release the Vox support in MarsEdit with a half-way implementation like that. I'm afraid the support repercussions from users who are unable to edit entries will outweight the value of being able to compose and post with MarsEdit. Just thought I'd drop an update here to let you know how things are progressing. Will update again if anything exciting happens :) Daniel
Hello.
more testing ...
This is ugly, held together with paper-clips and glue, but it's coming direct from MarsEdit.
Well things were feeling kind of empty in here and, after all, I'm about to start tackling Vox support, so it would be nice to have some items show up in MarsEdit when I make my first "get posts" call.
Having to switch from Safari to Firefox just to write a post wasn't very fun. I can see why some people are anxious for me to get MarsEdit support finished!
